Attempted Fishing...

We attempted our first fishing expedition, as a family. We've been fishing before sure. But always, always with another experienced fisherperson. This time we were bound and determined to do it all on our own. Spencer bought a couple of poles and we dug the pole that I had given him for Father's day (a few years back) out of storage. I called my dad and tried to figure out how to put the line on the poles and Spencer hit the local Walmart to stock up on the things we thought we might need....hooks, plastic grubs (Chartreuse in color of course?), worms, plastic bugs, and lots of fishing line. We had it all we thought, until we actually arrived at the river, walked down to the water, actually wadded across to the sandbar in the middle of the flowing river and started to become totally and utterly consumed by mosquitoes. What were we thinking?! No bug replant at 7:00 p.m. on the rivers' edge, in the middle of summer! Seriously bad move our part. We had to leave. We had only been there 10 minutes, but the fishing trip was over, done, finished. Truman came unglued and threw one of his shoes in the river. Sweet.  Teague lost it at this point and started crying about the need to retrieve Tru's shoe from the Payette River. At this point we all started laughing (don't get be wrong before that moment we weren't in the best of spirits). I snapped this photo just 30 seconds before we loaded back up and drove to the gas station for slush's.  At least they got a treat out of the deal.

Tenley and Teague were there, however, we don't have the photos to prove it because we were too busy swatting mosquito's off of their little bodies.  We didn't do a very good job apparently, as Teague has about a dozen bites and each leg and a dozen more on the remainder of his body.

So, here's to next time. The boys have already asked to go back, so I guess it wasn't quite that dreadful after all.
