Took a quick weekend trip to beautiful McCall. The boys have been missing our fire pit in the back yard of the farmhouse in Spokane, so a top priority was a camp fire. We quickly got camp set up and went about making the fire. After it was blazing we broke out the marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers for a campfire essential; s'mores (we tried coconut marshmallows too, I thought they were delicious...Spence said he could have done without them). We watched a movie together and caught a little bit of sleep. Saturday morning brought a short "hike" along the lake. The boys decided that they wanted to take a dip in the lake (Lake Payette is not a warm lake- think Bear Lake) despite the light breeze and early morning temps. They jumped into their swim trunks and splashed or tip-toed in. After a couple of hours of talking, relaxing, betting who could dunk their head under the frigid water the most times, we decided to head back and eat some lunch. Thanks to the motorhome we had a nice warm, totally not healthy lunch (a wide array of junk lunch items like pizza, corn dogs, chicken nuggets, etc.) which was perfect for our weekend away. After a bit we cleaned up camp and pack our things up. We had to stop downtown and get ice cream before we left. It's great to get away sometimes, even if it is only over night.
