The great state of TEXAS!

We returned home this week from a 9 day visit to Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas. We did a lot of driving and covered a lot of ground. Spencer had a review course for his boards (certifying exams) next spring as well as a few job interviews...really a job?! Who knows what it's like to have a job anymore?!! I was lucky to have my wonderful mother and my cute sister come down and hang out with us for a few days. Spencer was gone almost everyday all day so it was a life saver to have my mom there with me! Thanks MOM & Dani!! The boys loved every minute that they got to spend with grandma and aunt Dani. Taede was literally bawling when we dropped them off at the airport, the day before we flew out.

We did some fun things while in Texas, one of which was going to the Fort Worth zoo. It was such a great zoo! The boys really enjoyed it and the weather was perfect. I think the best parts of the zoo were: feeding the birds (they LOVED chasing them around trying to get the birds to jump onto the seed sticks), riding the zoo train, and imitating all of the animals that they saw. Any guesses on what they "are" in the picture to the above left?

What would a trip to Texas be without some great food?! There was a street fair in the town center and what better place to get some really YUMMY food. Talmage enjoyed the kettle corn popcorn, Taede chowed down on a turkey leg (looks gross but is really, really good..one of Spencer's favs), and Truman inhaled some TexMex salsa...until his tongue caught on fire, and then he cried.



One of the nights that we were in Texas, the cute little town that we were staying in showed a movie in the park. It was the old version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Ever since then all three of the boys have been singing "umpa, lumpa" non-stop. It's pretty funny. It was so fun to be out under the stars watching the movie with our family.







The boys loved every second that they got to spend with Grandma and Aunt Dani. There were lots of movies and popcorn, puzzles, baseball, a little swimming, storybooks (Dani read in the car everywhere we went), and of course bubble baths in the tub that was as big as our current bathroom. I think the boys enjoyed the trip. We didn't get to spend very much time with Spencer though, and we missed him every second. He was working hard and we love him so much for sacrificing everything for us!!

In the end, we discovered that Texas is a pretty great place. It looks like we will probably be heading out west this time next year....
