A beautiful Autumn day.

We had to take advantage of a beautiful Saturday. Soccer was cancelled for the holiday weeekend & Spencer has been studying hard all week and this Saturday was a day that cried out to be explored (as Curious George has been known to say). So, we piled in the car and drove. Three of the our boys took a nice nap for the first portion of our drive. We actually picked a little town in New Hampshire, Keene, to drive to and have some lunch (it was some good food...thus the smile on my face. Spencer knows that food is the way to my heart!) we ate at a little sandwich & bagel place called The Works. The trees were fabulously gorgeous! We found what we think could be called a mountain, probably more like a hill, but it was really pretty.

On the way back home we stopped here and there. We found the most beautiful lake in a quaint little town called Harrisville, NH . We also saw some signs that pointed the way to a pony farm so we followed the signs and found some horses. We told the boys that they had to stay in the car and say "hi" to the horses from a distance, because Talmage was sporting his tighty whities. Why was he in undies? At the (once) peaceful lake, the boys ventured out onto a rock just of the shore and of course someone had to tease his little brother. The teasing went a little too far, needless to say poor Talmage ended up with with a wet sweater, wet shoes, wet pants and a huge scrape on his forehead and cheek. Aside from Talmage's trauma, the boys were so good to humor their parents and go along with what turned into an all day affair. Taede did mention, however, on the drive home that he would have liked to have "stayed home and sat around all day doing nothing and watching T.V.". Kids. I can say that now because I am a parent. It was truly a picturesque day that we enjoyed as a family.
